Tango Rolls Out New Privacy Options

We want to make it easy and fun for you to connect, be social and have fun – and as a part of that, we’re giving you more control over what you share and who you interact with (and who can interact with you).

There are four sections within Tango’s settings that have been updated – to get to settings, swipe from left to right on any screen and select the gear icon in the top right.

Below we’ll go through each section to give you details on what’s changed.

Privacy

Most of these options use a toggle button. To change your default setting just click on the toggle and it will slide to the right and show green. Green means that feature is now turned on.

Receive friend requests: While we encourage making new friends on Tango, we still would like to give you the ability to turn on or off friend requests with this additional option

Who can see my post: Previously, we’ve allowed you to choose who can see your profile. With these new updates, you get even more personalization by being able to choose who can see your status updates and posts.

Select “All” for your posts to remain public or select “Just my friends” for your posts to be shown only to your friends.

Do I show up in search: Here you can select whether or not your profile shows up when someone searches for your name within the Tango app.

Find me via mutual friend: Sometimes Tango will recommend you to someone if you have a mutual friend, but you can now choose to turn that option on or off.

Friends list visible to friends: If you’d like to keep your friends list private to other members, you can choose to do so with this option.

Sharing

Both of these options use the toggle button. Like we discussed above, to turn the feature on, swipe the toggle button to green.

Let my friends know when I’ve liked or commented on a post: Some members like to keep their likes and comments off of their News Feeds, which is totally fine with us! Choose what your friends see about your interactions with this option.

Post when it’s my birthday: When it’s your birthday, we usually will let your network know via a notification so they can say, “Happy birthday!” But, we understand not everyone wants that kind of attention, so now you can disable that.

Notifications

Game notifications: We realize that only some people on Tango play games. If you don’t want to receive game notifications, then you now have the option to turn those on or off with the toggle button.

Show recommended friends: To turn off Tango’s ability to recommend friends to you in your address book, simply adjust this option.
