Tango Halloween Photo Contest Winner!

We hope everyone had an amazing Halloween! Thank you all for your submissions and contributions to the Tango Halloween Photo Contest. We had a lot of amazing entries that put a smile on everyone’s face around the office and on Facebook.

After tallying up the “Likes” on Facebook I would like to congratulate Ori Ravid from Northern California for winning the 2010 Tango Halloween Photo Contest. Ori received 185 “Likes” for his Tango call with Frankenstein!

Update for Android 2.2

Hi Tangoers!

We’ve updated Tango for Android version 2.2!  We have fixed some known issues on a few different Android phones so your Tango experience will now be seamless if you have one of the following handsets:

• HTC G2
• HTC Wildfire
• Motorola Milestone XT720
• Samsung Moment
• Samsung Intercept
• Samsung Transform

Also, you no longer have to keep Tango running in the background to receive calls so your battery life will last much longer.  To get the newest version of Tango for Android, go to the Android Marketplace and select Tango.  This will update the app.

Celebrate Halloween with Tango and Win a New Phone

Hello!

In celebration of Halloween, we are running a contest on Facebook and giving away a new iPhone 4 or Android phone to one lucky person.

It’s easy to enter and here’s how:

• Make sure you “Like” Tango on Facebook
• Post a photo that incorporates Halloween and the word “Tango” to our Facebook wall, you can even do this directly from your phone!
• Add a caption telling us about your photo opp
• Get your friends to “Like” your photo on our Facebook page
• The person with the most “Likes” on their photo will win a new iPhone 4 or Android phone of their choice

The photo could be a picture of you in costume, showing off your spooky home décor, tricking your friend, or handing out treats.  Creativity when incorporating the word “Tango” is a plus, and including an actual Tango call is a double plus!  You can download the Tango logo from our photos on our Facebook page – or come up with your own Tango design.

The contest starts today and ends November 1 at 11:59pm PST.  Hurry and post your photo to start getting as many of your friends to “Like” it as possible.  Winners will be notified through their Facebook accounts the week of November 1.

Tango Fixes and Updates

Good news!  Today we released a new version of Tango for Android as well as made changes to our servers to address some issues you might have experienced in the last two weeks since we launched.

For Android, we’ve made significant improvements to the battery usage so Tango will no longer drain your battery.  We’ve also added front camera support for the Samsung Galaxy S series so you will now be able to make free video calls face to face.

Push notification reliability was improved so more people will receive notifications for incoming calls.  We also updated our service to improve contact filtering so people in more countries can Tango with their friends.  Notably, changes were made for countries including Estonia, Kuwait, Macau, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Taiwan.

To get the newest version of Tango for Android, go to the Android Marketplace and select Tango.  This will update the app.  Improvements for the iPhone did not require an update as the fix was with our servers.

We’re working hard to make sure you have a great Tango experience.  Stay tuned for more updates.  We have a lot of exciting features we’re working on so you can Tango more people, in more ways.

Tango Reaches One Million Downloads in 10 Days!

Today we are very excited to announce that one million people have downloaded Tango for their iPhone and Android phones, 10 days after we launched!  This tremendous growth has exceeded our expectations and we’re so happy to bring you free video calling wherever you are.  It’s been incredible hearing your stories about the many different ways you are Tangoing with your family and friends around the globe.

In the first week of our release, Tango debuted as the number one Social Networking application in the App Store in nine countries including the U.S., France, Hong Kong, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan.  In the Android Marketplace, Tango has ranked in the top 10 Communications apps since our launch.

People are Tangoing in 125 countries and connecting with their family and friends wherever they are.  In the past week, Tango ranks in the top five in the Social Networking category in 26 countries including the U.S., Chile, Egypt, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Luxembourg, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan.

A huge thanks goes out to you, the Tango community, who made this amazing achievement possible.  We will continue to work around the clock to make sure our service is working great for all of your Tango video calls.

New version of Tango for Android

Hi,

We’ve been listening to your feedback and worked quickly to fix some issues on Android you’ve been experiencing.  First, we’ve fixed the pop up problem where Tango appears in the foreground without you launching the app.  We’ve also updated how we filter your contacts so you should now start seeing the people in your address book who have downloaded Tango.

To get the newest version of Tango, go to the Android Marketplace and select Tango.  This will update the app and you can start to Tango.

We appreciate the feedback and are working around the clock to make sure that you have a great experience with all of your Tango video calls.

We debuted Tango to the world yesterday, and did the world respond!  One day later, Tango is one of the most downloaded apps on the iPhone and Android phones!

After only the first day of being live, Tango is currently #1 in the Social Networking category in front of Facebook and #12 in the entire App Store.  We are #1 in the Social Networking category in France, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, & Luxemburg.
